Known as one the Asia talented artists, Van Duong Thanh grew up in Hanoi and studied for 12 years at Vietnam Fine Arts University. She then worked at the Cultural Research Institute, Ministry of Culture from 1981 to 1987. Thanh works and teaches art both in Sweeden and Vietnam.
Her works were first collected by the Vietnam National Museum when she was 20 years old. Since then, many of her works have been collected by 13 National Art Museums in several countries such as Vietnam, Thailand, India, China, Singapore, Poland, Rumania, Moldavia, Spain, and Sweden.
Through over 1.800 paintings and 85 individual exhibitions, she has inspired many art lovers in her homeland and abroad; especially students, children, and disables. Van Duong Thanh's art has increased the friendship and understanding of Vietnam and international friends. Many of her works have been selected as national gifts to the heads of states.
She was the first Vietnamese who was selected into the program International Excellence of Arts of CFMI - Snecma, USA - France twice in 1995 and 1997 and "Glory of Vietnam" 2007 in Van Mieu Quoc Tu Giam (Temple of Literature), Awarded by Women Leaders International Networking in 2018 - 2019.
Van Duong Thanh's art has increased the friendship and understanding of the Vietnamese with international friends. Many of her works have been selected to be national gifts to heads of state, such as President Barack Obama, President Jimmy Carter, US Supreme Court Judges Ruth Bader Ginsburg, H.E.
